Tire change
Tire change
Swap a damaged or worn tire for a spare or a new one. Not the same job as rotation.
3D for this job is not built yet.

01
Park on level ground, out of traffic. Hazard lights on. Parking brake set. Chock the opposite wheel.
02
Read the size on the sidewall and the door-jamb placard. The spare may be a limited-use compact — treat it that way.
03
Loosen the lug nuts while the tire is still on the ground. Do not remove them yet.
04
Lift only at the published jack point. Set a stand if you have one. Never crawl under a vehicle held only by a scissor jack.
05
Finish removing the nuts. Pull the wheel straight off. Seat the replacement on the hub.
06
Start every lug nut by hand. Lower the vehicle. Torque in a star pattern to the published spec. Set the pressure to the placard, not the sidewall max.
07
Stow the old wheel. If you used a compact spare, get a full-size tire mounted before highway miles.
